Juliette Lewis has cancelled her performance at Club One in St. John's on Aug. 17 due to a scheduling conflict with the premiere of her new film.

Promoter Sonic Concerts and Lewis apologize for the inconvenience and hope to reschedule for another date.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase and by phone at 1-888-311-9090.

Lewis is known primarily as an Oscar-nominated actor, but launched a career as a singer as well.

What a surprise, I guess she felt she wasn't old enough to perform here, unlike other Old Age Pensioners who usually grace our stages.

That's okay, I'm sure she'll be able to do a show in Halifax. Bah! When these 'entertainers' agree to perform in our city, is there not some sort of contract they have to sign? Why is it okay for them to just willy nilly decide we (the city/the province) don't matter? Why do we even have/need a Mile One when we simply can't get good (or even okay acts like this Lewis person) - and nobody seems to give a hoot - including the promoters! If this was happening in Halifax or any of the other 'cultural' centres people would be up in arms. I don't know if this Juliette Lewis is a good singer. I've seen a few of her movies which were pretty good. It's not just her, it's all the other performers who back out, mainly because it's not convenient with a 'oh, sorry, oops, maybe next time. It happens too often here and it's embarrassing.
