Milestones — achieved and nearly achieved — the story as Lower Path edges ICA
Lower Path Bar and Grill pulled out a 6-5 win over Imagewear Custom Apparel with a run in the seventh inning, but the lead story to Sunday’s Molson St. John’s senior men’s softball game was a new stolen base record and the chase towards a home run milestone.

Justin Gill (right) of Imagewear Custom Apparel slides safely into second base during a Molson St. John's senior softball league game against Lower Path Bar & Grill Sunday at Lions Park. Making the late tage is Lower Path's Kevin Fitzpatrick.
Justin Gill of Imagewear led off the fifth inning with a single and then promptly stole second base for his 13th stolen base this season, breaking a 39-year-old single season stolen base record established by Gus Crotty of Chester Dawe Lumberjacks in 1971-72.
Gill then added to his total by stealing third base for his 14th stolen base this season.
Crotty, by coincidence, was in attendance at Lions Park Sunday to witness the record-breaking theft.
In the other dugout, Ward Gosse of Lower Path hit a solo home run in the first inning, his 98th career round-tripper. Gosse is the league’s all-time home run leader.
Gosse (1.2IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 1K) got the win in relief of starter Robbie Greene (5.1IP, 5R, 8H, 3BB, 6K).
Joey Maynard homered and knocked in three runs for Lower Path.
Brian Roche was three-for-three in a losing cause, and Chris Murphy was two-for-two.
