Grand Falls-Windsor -

The Zamboni had just finished flooding the ice between the first and second overtime periods of Tuesday's boys' hockey gold-medal final at the 2010 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games, a game featuring Avalon, represented by Conception Bay South, and Western, represented by Corner Brook, when one of the coaches of the Western hockey team posed a question.
"Who's going to be Sidney Crosby today?"
If there was a player from Western preparing to play hero, Isaac Trask of C.B.S. beat them to it. Trask scored with less than seven minutes remaining in double overtime, giving the Avalon representatives a 3-2 win and a golden moment in the peewee-age tourney.
"They beat us in the round-robin, so it feels great that we could get back at them," said Avalon's Riley Baggs, who had no doubts about his team's fate.
"We felt the entire way (we could win) because the shots at the beginning were 9-0 and we came back - we started to feel that we could do it."
"I have a gold medal at the Winter Games," added the 12-year-old Baggs.
"I don't know (what it means to me) yet. It's a once in a lifetime thing, (since the Games) happen every four years. I'm just lucky that I got to play."
