Clarenville, C.B.N. arrive at CeeBees 'home' rink with series tied at 1-1

Based on the firepower the Clarenville Caribous brought to the ice in winning last year's Herder provincial senior hockey final the Conception Bay South CeeBees, there were more than a few fans wondering whether this spring's Herder rematch between the two teams would even get to a Game 5.

But Freddy Diamond and the CeeBees had their say last weekend, ensuring there will be no series sweep and guaranteeing three Herder games will be played this weekend at Mile One Centre, which is the CeeBees' home ice for the best-of-seven series.

The Caribous won Saturday's opener of the Telegram Herder Memorial Trophy Championship Series at the Clarenville Events Centre, coming away with a 4-2 decision, but the CeeBees - who gave up an average of almost seven goals a contest (34 in total) in losing last year's Herder final in five games - got a 41-save performance from Diamond in Game 2 on Sunday as they won 4-1.

Game 3 of is set for Friday night at 7:30, with Games 4 and 5 to follow on Saturday, also at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets for the Herder games at Mile One went on sale March 4, and fans without those treasures could be out of luck. As of late Wednesday night, the three contests were all but sold out, according to the Mile One website.

Well Bob from Mount Pearl, The Ceebee fans may go home with frowns on their faces but at least they made it to the dance. I guess we will be waiting a long time to see the Mount Pearl fans going home with a frown or a smile because the Mount Pearl senior team can't seem to get it's act together no matter how much they spend.
Maybe, just maybe, sometimes pride in being part of a great team and it's legacy inspires players to give it their all.

Exactly what the CeeBees need. More money to pay their players to stay in Hr Grace next season. Tobin and Thomey are going to get their paychecks after all and maybe we'll see the Delaneys back next season.

Wasn't a sweep in Clarenville last weekend, but be rest assured the Caribous will skate around Mile One's Ice on Sunday with the herder sending the CeeBee faithful home again this year with frowns..........and nobody to blame. Maybe the Delaney's for leaving for more $$$$$
