Former Memorial University all-star and Athletic Honour Society member Ann Woodford passed away Friday following a battle with cancer. She was only 38.
She played all-star minor soccer before graduating to the Atlantic intercollegiate varsity ranks and eventually the St. John's women's league, where she played for close to 20 years, representing the province in national Jubilee Trophy women's play four times.
Prior to suiting up for the Memorial Sea-Hawks, Woodford played for Newfoundland at the 1993 Canada Summer Games. During her senior year at MUN, she earned a Canadian university athlete of the week honour and was named to the Atlantic University Sport first all-star team.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Blair White, a former St. John's and St. Francis Xavier basketball star.
Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Mary Queen of Peace Church on Torbay Rd.
