This shouldn't come as a surprise to the soccer/football fans of Corner Brook. Bailing on the last few games was a weak decision, no matter what the excuse, and it was going to look bad to the other parts of the island, no matter how WFC tried to spin it. Instead of going and losing on the field, they lost all-around. Maybe even in 2011 too (by getting denied entry into the league). In today's story Avery states "Through circumstances beyond our control, and the daunting obstacle of exorbitant travel..." Yet in The Telegram article (August 20, 2010) he says "We must point out that this is no way a cost-cutting measure as the club is financially sound..." You'd have to be blind to think money didn't play a factor!
