So is Acadia’s Earle; Sea-Hawks Noseworthy, Hamlyn get second-team nods
Memorial University Sea-Hawks soccer player Jane Pope was named an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) first-team all-star Thursday night.
Pope, a striker from St. John’s, led Memorial with five goals this season.
Another MUN rookie, Jessie Noseworthy of St. John’s was selected to the second-team all-star squad, also at the striker position.
The two players helped lead MUN to a 5-4-4 fifth-place finish this season.
Pope and Noseworthy, who had three goals this season, will be in the lineup today when Memorial takes on the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in an AUS quarter-final game in Moncton, N.B.
Acadia’s Meghan Earle, a rookie from Mount Pearl, was also chosen to the second team. Earle and the Axewomen play the Mount Allison Mounties in today’s other quarter-final.
Memorial fourth-year defender Matthew Hamlyn of St. John’s was selected an AUS men’s second-team all-star.
The MUN men failed to make the AUS playoffs this season.
