Five people lost countless hairs in the lobby of The Telegram offices at the Village Mall in St. John's this afternoon, but in the process raised more than $2,500 for Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC).
Three Telegram editors and two others participated in Shave for the Brave, with desk editor Deb Squires cutting off more than 35 centimetres of hair. It will be used to make wigs for cancer patients.
The youngest participant was 10-year-old John Parsons who said he was participating because "my nan and my pop had cancer."
The other participants were Doug Bailey, Associate News Editor Mark Vaughan-Jackson, and desk editor Laura Power.
The fifth annual Shave for the Brave in support of YACC is breaking records this year with events around the province, and for the first time ever, across the country.
Beth Cranston, YACC Director of Special Events and Initiatives, congratulated The Telegram team for raising a total of $2,566.50.
