Canadian Joannie Rochette's courage has been rewarded with a bronze medal in figure skating at the Olympic Games.

Reigning world champion Kim Yu-Na of South Korea won gold with a world record score that left all the other skaters in her tracks.

Canadian Joannie Rochette's courage has been rewarded with a bronze medal in figure skating at the Olympic Games.



Reigning world champion Kim Yu-Na of South Korea won gold with a world record score that left all the other skaters in her tracks.



But Rochette was also the big winner late Thursday night, climbing onto the podium just days after her mother's death due to a heart attack.

    Congratulations and God Bless you Joannie!!! You have made Canada very proud! You were very courageous to go forward and perform when you are in so much grief. We all know it was done with great LOVE you have for your mom. We never lose the people we love to death, your mom will continue to participate in every act, thought and decision you make. Your mom's LOVE will leave an indelible imprint in your memory. Sincerest condolences to you and your dad & family. The hearts of Canada are with you. CONGRATULATIONS & God Bless.
