Proposed Bay D’espoir To Western Avalon Transmission Line  (Tl 267)

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has registered its new power line between Bay d’Espoir and the Western Avalon for environmental assessment.

According to information issued by the Department of Environment on Thursday, the 188-kilometre, 230 kilovolt transmission line will run parallel to existing lines to the Avalon Peninsula, passing through the Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve.

The right of way — space cleared for the transmission line — will be 40 metres wide under the existing proposal, available on the Department site.

Public comments are due by Aug. 26 and can be sent to: EAprojectcomments@gov.nl.ca

Construction, if approved, is expected to begin in March 2016.
