PAL Aerospace’s Force Multiplier project is getting a second round of government support, this time from Ottawa’s Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA).

The St. John’s-based company will receive a $5 million conditionally repayable investment through the ACOA’s Atlantic Innovation Fund.

The provincial government had previously announced a $2.25-million grant over two fiscal years and $750,000 in non-repayable funds through the province's Research and Development Corp, now InnovateNL, in support of the project.

The Force Multiplier project involves modifying existing Dash-8 aircraft to be equipped with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance components and made available for lease to customers both in Canada and around the world.

The aircrafts will be able to swap out components as desired or required by the lessee.

The aircraft was launched at the Dubai Air Show last month. The new money will allow PAL Aerospace to undertake engineering and research and development to increase the aircraft’s technical functionality.
