MING’S BIGHT, NL – Anaconda Mining Inc.’s proposed Argyle gold mine project near Ming’s Bight on the Baie Verte Peninsula has been registered with the provincial government for an environmental assessment.
The project calls for an open pit mine and stockpile areas for waste rock and ore materials, according to an environmental assessment bulletin issued by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment on Friday, April 20.
It’s anticipated the mine will produce approximately 405,000 tonnes of ore and 2,228,000 tonnes of waste rock over the lifespan of the mine.
The proposed project site area is approximately 37.5 hectares in total.
Anaconda is planning to process and mill the ore at its Pine Cove Mill site.
The deadline for public comments is May 25.
Municipal Affairs and Environment Minister Eddie Joyce’s decision is due by June 3.
