The demolition of the iconic retail building at the end of the Avalon Mall Shopping Centre parking lot near the intersection of Columbus Drive/Freshwater Road /Kenmount Road has begun.
The building will be remembered by baby boomers as it once housing the Canadian Tire outlet. Since then, the building saw various retail outlets fill the spaces there over the years and the latest all moved out earlier this year. Across from this site, the former Sears outlet in the Avalon Mall will also face the wrecking ball soon as that space is in for a major overhaul with new retail outlets going in once the project is finished as the mall undergoes major renovations as part of its 50th anniversary upgrades and expansions.
