Lynn Johnston is new to the position of Guest Services Manager, but she brings a wealth of experience to her job. She is part of The Fairfield team of friendly people, experienced in providing great service. The Fairfield brings new enthusiasm to the old phrase “Customer satisfaction”!
What are your signature products and services?
“In a word, ‘accommodations’. We have 148 rooms, 44 of which are suites; we offer our guests free hot breakfast daily (plus a variety of extra amenities) and we have fully functioning meeting and reception facilities where catered meals can be provided.” We have accommodations that are comfortable and welcoming for both the corporate traveller and families
And the ‘variety of extra amenities’?
“All of our rooms have a microwave, mini fridge, Keurig, television, bathrobes and in room safe. We also have our brand-new Guest Entertainment Unit, which allows guests a video checkout, Internet TV with YouTube and NetFlix. We also have a swimming pool, and water slide that is a huge hit with the families. Don’t forget that we also offer a complimentary hot buffet breakfast every morning, to start your day off right! For easy evening dining, try out the popular Fionn MacCool’s restaurant, recently opened in the spring and our close neighbour on our parking lot that features a vast menu, and live music in the evening.”
What is the secret of the hotel’s success?
In addition to our comfortable rooms, we have a great team. Marriott provides on-line training which keeps everyone up to speed on new programs and offerings. Our guest feedback consistently recognizes our staff as warm, friendly and professional. We recruit great people and give them the tools to do the job in an exceptional manner.
Your inspiration to be the best?
People…and of course my Team. I am constantly learning and observing from those around me, and striving to make every guest experience exceptional. That means learning from previous guest stays, and taking feedback from our guests, so we can give them that WOW factor.
People are surprised to know
“That we do our own catering at The Fairfield. We have 2100 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate groups for meetings, receptions etc. We do association events, showers, socials, product launches, seminars ... and so on. One of our advantages is the ample parking, no need to worry about walking very far.
Contributions to the community?
In the spring, we ran our second annual Spring into Spring cleaning campaign. We collected over 200 bags of gently used clothing in aid of the Iris Kirby house. Also, with the help of over 15 volunteers, we took on the daunting task of sorting all the donations for the house, and rented a U-Haul to deliver the donations. In July, we ran our Hots and Ham BBQ for the Janeway. We had face painting, and balloon twisting for the kids, a dunk tank in which management braved the water, and sold hotdogs and hamburgers, with all proceeds going to the children’s hospital. In August keep an ear out as we will also celebrate National Root Beer Day, by having a fun themed Root Beer Float Day, with once again all proceeds benefiting the local children’s hospital. This is just a small portion of worthwhile fundraisers we participate in throughout the year.
