First NATI ‘innovation day’ to highlight sea cucumber processing in St. Lawrence

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology Industries (NATI) will host the first in a series of innovation days in St. Lawrence on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

NATI, under its export and innovation program, is partnering with communities, industry and business on the initiative.

The focus of the events will be on how innovation and technology is being used in traditional industries to modernize operations, become more globally competitive, expand markets, and create more economic opportunity for communities in the province.

Tuesday’s event in St. Lawrence will begin with a tour of Ocean Choice International’s (OCI) plant to showcase how innovation and technology has been integrated into the company’s processing of sea cucumber.

A panel discussion on opportunities in traditional tndustries through innovation and technology will follow with OCI chief operating officer Blaine Sullivan, Canada Flourspar Inc. CEO Bill Dobbs, St. Lawrence Mayor Paul Pike, and Mandy Woodland, entrepreneur in residence for Bounce Health Innovation.
