It was a busy, busy week for Annapolis District RCMP. There were also numerous break-ins to cars, vehicles in the ditch, and many other calls for service.
RCMP Const. Dave Fairfax said police responded to 107 calls for service from Nov. 14 to Nov. 21.
Among those calls were twenty-two 911-related calls, two animal calls, three assaults, two assistance calls, one breach of recognizance call, three break-and-enter calls, five check stops, two driving while disqualified, one failure to comply with a undertaking, two disturbing the peace, one drug offence, two Firearms Act, four harassing communications, four impaired operation of a motor vehicle, one lost/found item, one Liquor Control Act, five mental health-related, four mischief calls, five motor vehicle collisions, 10 motor vehicle violations, 10 other Motor Vehicle Act, one theft, two missing persons reports, two pointing a firearm, one possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one sexual assault, one suspicious person, and two uttering threats.
Following are a few of the calls for service:

-- Nov. 14 at 11:58 a.m. at Brooklyn. A caller reported the theft of a backpack from an unlocked vehicle Saturday night.
-- Nov. 14 at 12:35 p.m. at Middleton. Police received a call from a business that somebody brushed paint on their property and on a vehicle. Two youths were apprehended and agreed to clean up the mess. No charges were requested by the business.
-- Nov. 14 at 4:03 p.m. at Annapolis Royal. Police performed a joint check stop with Annapolis Royal Police Department, and MADD. About 100 vehicles were checked and given MADD red ribbons to create awareness about impaired driving.
-- Nov. 14 at 4:45 p.m. at West Dalhousie. Police received an abandoned 911 call. Police went to the location. There was no emergency at the residence. The person had called 911 by mistake.
-- Nov. 14 at 6:52 p.m. at Middleton. Police responded to an intoxicated female at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. There was an outstanding warrant for the woman’s arrest. She was arrested and lodged in cells. She was transported to court in Kentville the following morning.
-- Nov. 14 at 7:12 p.m. at Granville Ferry. Police were called to do a well-being check on a man who had cut himself earlier in the day. Police went to the location and located the man who was okay.
-- Nov. 15 at 1:32 p.m. at Greywood. Police were called to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch. The vehicle had been removed from the ditch by the time police arrived. There was no sign of damage or injury.
-- Nov. 15 at 2:42 p.m. at Middleton. Police were called to deal with several used needles in an apartment. Police were called by the landlord. Police collected the needles safely and disposed of them.
-- Nov. 15 at 3:09 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police were called to an ongoing complaint of speeding on Granville Street. Police patrolled and spoke to the driver of a truck and issued a warning.
-- Nov. 15 at 4:56 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a report of an erratic driver. RCMP intercepted the vehicle and are recommending review of the driver’s license. No other enforcement action was taken.
-- Nov. 15 at 5:22 p.m. at Youngs Cove. Police responded to a single-vehicle crash. A jeep was in the ditch but the driver had already been taken for medical attention.
-- Nov. 15 at 8:14 p.m. at Highway 101 at Brickton. Police stopped a vehicle and charged the driver with driving without registration. If found guilty the driver will pay a fine of $295.
-- Nov. 15 at 9:36 p.m. at New Albany. Police received an anonymous complaint of an SUV that was speeding and all over the road and heading towards Middleton. A patrol was made to the area but the suspect vehicle was not located.
-- Nov. 15 at 11:51 p.m. at Centrelea. Police stopped a vehicle and charged the driver with speeding. The vehicle was driving between 1 and 15 kilometres an hour over the speed limit. If found guilty the driver could pay a fine of $237.50.
-- Nov. 16 at 12:50 a.m.at Middleton. Police received a complaint from Bruce Ford that while doing their weekly inventory they discovered they were missing two F-250 trucks. The approximate value of each vehicle is $80,000. The case is under investigation.
-- Nov. 16 at 8:05 p.m. at Centrelea on Highway 201. Police stopped a vehicle and fined the driver for stunting. The vehicle was travelling at 160 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone. It was dark and raining. Both the vehicle and license were seized. A 24-hold was put on the vehicle. If found guilty the driver could face a fine of $2422.50.
-- Nov. 17 at 2:58 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police were called to a complaint of theft from an unlocked vehicle. A package of cigarettes was stolen. There was no damage to the vehicle, no witness, and no suspects.
-- Nov. 17 at 8:07 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a call that a vehicle had been broken into overnight. The person found their wallet on the street. Money, bank cards, and an iPod were taken. There are no suspects.
-- Nov. 17 at 9:35 a.m. at Middleton. Police responded to a break-and-enter into a warehouse on School Street. Police attended the scene and discovered a smashed window and the door open. It was not possible to tell if anything was missing. This is the same Middleton warehouse that burned on the evening of Nov. 20.
-- Nov. 17 at 9:50 a.m. at Bridgetown. A pair of binoculars was discovered and turned into the Bridgetown RCMP detachment.
-- Nov. 17 at 11:15 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a report of a break into a vehicle. The complainant reported that a small amount of change was taken. Police advise people to not leave valuables in their vehicles and to keep the doors locked.
-- Nov. 17 at 11:53 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a vehicle that had been broken into overnight. A variety of items were taken from the vehicle, including two pair of Oakley sunglasses, a green Benchmade rescue knife, a battery booster, and a camera.
-- Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received yet another call about a vehicle that had been broken into. A pair of binoculars was taken. See above. The binoculars were returned.
-- Nov. 17 at 2:54 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police were called to SUV–cyclist crash. There were no injuries. The cyclist was examined by paramedics at the scene. The bike was not damaged.
-- Nov. 17 at 8:22 p.m. at Meadowvale. Police were called because a youth was missing from home. Police searched the area and the youth was located a short time later.
-- Nov. 18 at 1:41 p.m. at Springfield. Police received a report of a possibly impaired driver.
-- Nov. 18 at 1:59 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police stopped and charged a driver with driving while suspended. The person was given a court date in 2017.
-- Nov. 18 at 4:55 p.m. at Lawrencetown. Police were called to a single-vehicle accident. A deer was hit. There were no injuries to the driver. The deer fled into the woods. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
-- Nov. 18 at 5:08 p.m. at Brickton. Police received a call about a possibly impaired driver and were provided a license plate and direction of travel. RCMP went to the home of the registered owner and determined that the driver was not intoxicated.
-- Nov. 18 at 8:32 p.m. at Highway 10 at Springfield. Police conducted a checkpoint. Fifteen vehicles were checked and there were no infractions.
-- Nov. 19 at 12 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police responded to a complaint of loud noise. Police attended and the property owner ended the party.
-- Nov. 19 at 12:52 a.m. in Lawrencetown. Police were called to a complaint of five or six intoxicated youth throwing pilons. A suspect had thrown one at the complainant’s house and woke them up. Police made a patrol to the area but the suspects were already gone.
-- Nov. 19 at 3:18 a.m. at Highway 1 in Lawrencetown. Police responded to another complaint of pilons all over the road. Police drove through but there was nobody there.
-- Nov. 19 at 5:49 a.m. Main Street, Lawrencetown. Police received a third call about pilons on the road, plus construction signs.
-- Nov. 19 at 8:39 a.m. at Highway 101 at Middleton. Police received a call about two cows grazing on the side of the highway. Patrols were made but the cows were not located.
-- Nov. 19 at 9:58 a.m. at Torbrook. Police were called to a report of a horse on the loose. Police found the horse and the owner. The electric fence was not working properly but has since been repaired.
-- Nov. 19 at 1:51 p.m. at Melvern Square. Police were made aware of speeding cars and trucks on the Vault Road. A patrol was made to the area. Police will focus on curbing such activity in the area.
-- Nov. 19 at 6:52 p.m. at Middleton. Police stopped a vehicle and charged the driver with speeding 1 to 15 kilometres per hour over the speed limit. If convicted the person will pay a fine of $237.50.
-- Nov. 19 at 9:18 p.m. at Meadowvale. Police responded to a complaint of shots fired. The complainant heard a single shot from a high-powered rifle near their residence. Police made a patrol to the area. No other shots were heard. The Department of Natural Resources was advised as it might have been a case of hunting at night.
-- Nov. 20 at 12:24 a.m. at Middleton. Police received a complaint under the Firearms Act of a person pointing a firearm at another person. A vehicle was located by police and pulled over. A high-risk takedown occurred. The occupants of the vehicle were identified but no firearm was found. The case is still under investigation.
-- Nov. 20 at 3:49 p.m. at Lawrencetown. Police received a 911 hang-up call at the NSCC campus. On ring-back the dispatcher just heard mechanical noise and no answer. Police attended and discovered there was no emergency. There may be trouble on the line.
-- Nov. 20 at 5:53 p.m. at Middleton. Police responded to a call about a vehicle in the ditch and a man standing behind the car talking on his cell phone. When offered help the man ran into the woods. Police contacted the registered owner who advised the police to have the vehicle towed. It was not known if there was damage to the vehicle. Police still want to speak with the driver.
-- Nov. 20 at 6:14 p.m. at Middleton. Police were called to assist Middleton fire with traffic control for an active fire on School Street. Police blocked off School and Commercial streets.
-- Nov. 21 at 8:52 a.m. at Middleton. Police were called to a complaint of an attempted break-and-enter into a business on Commercial Street that occurred sometime overnight.
-- Nov. 21 at 9:56 a.m. at Lequille. Police received a 911 complaint of a vehicle that had gone over an embankment. Police arrived at the scene and learned that the driver had already been taken to hospital. It appears the vehicle went out of control on a wet road. The vehicle sustained damage including broken windows.
-- Nov. at 2:06 p.m. at Granville Centre. Police were called to a report of a vehicle hitting a deer. Police went to the scene. Nobody was hurt.
-- Nov. 21 at 4:19 p.m. Police stopped and charged a motorist for driving without insurance. If convicted the driver will pay a fine of $1272.50.
