The CRRS, a not-for-profit organization in Labrador City, is receiving $295,858 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) Innovative Communities Fund to expand its current fibre optic network.
The upgrades, which will include the installation of additional pole line hardware, fibre optics and related infrastructure, will lessen network congestion and provide more capacity for local businesses and communities.
As well, a $99,500 investment from ACOA’s Business Development Program helped the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce host the Women in Business Leadership Conference and Tradex last week.
The funding investment also supports an Iron Ore Symposium focussed on the mining industry this September and a series of business training and improvement workshops throughout the year.
