Gus Coombs, assistant executive director of the council, made the presentation to Sr. Shelia O’Dea (left) and Sr. Lois Greene (centre).

“We are pleased to provide this financial support to The Gathering Place to assist them in providing services and programs for people who are challenged by many issues.” said Coombs. “The work of The Gathering Place and its volunteers is about respect, dignity and leadership — core values shared by the membership unions and affiliates of the Resource Development Trades Council.”

“It’s important for society to be aware of the poverty and hunger that exists for many people in our community not just at Christmas, but each day of the year,” said Sr. Elizabeth Davis, co-chairwoman of The Gathering Place Board. “The Gathering Place has provided a caring and nurturing environment for the most vulnerable people in our society and the Resource Development Trade Council’s generous donation will ensure that these programs and services will continue to be available.”
