One of the initiatives of the Lions Clubs in our communities is to provide an opportunity for high school students to practice and build skills through public speaking, and to encourage students to have a public voice on issues of their concerns. This year, for the first time on Feb. 28, the Waterford Hospital Lions Club sponsored a Senior Speak Out contest for students who attend Waterford Valley High. The winners of the contest were; first place, Madison Kenny, second place, Ben Pollard and third place, Kamea Bellows. All winners received a monetary prize and a plaque and other participants received medallions for their participation. The Waterford Hospital Lions Club would like to thank all students who participated in this event and also the teachers who helped to make this a success.
