A 30-year-old man who got away from the scene twice Sunday after allegedly damaging property at a centre-city St. John's home was finally caught by police.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was first called to the home at 8 p.m. on a report of property damage and threats being made, but he suspect had already fled the scene.

About 11:45 p.m., police were called back for another report of property damage, but the suspect was gone again.

A man matching the suspect’s description was located nearby and after a brief foot chase, officers charged him with mischief, uttering threats, possession of break-in instruments, resisting arrest and breaches of his court orders.

He was held for court this morning (Monday) at Her Majesty’s Lockup.
