Heidi Wicks is a freelance writer in St. John’s and a communications co-ordinator with Memorial University. She has held a strong interest in film ever since visiting that magical old Empire Theatres in the Avalon Mall for the first time (to see E.T., The Extraterrestrial, at age three) and potentially giving herself lifetime bladder issues from refusing to leave before the end credits rolled. Noreen Golfman’s film studies course at Memorial further salivated her thirst and appreciation for film, and she has been a devotee to Roger Ebert ever since (despite the fact that he once dated Oprah). Heidi looks forward to watching and dissecting films, chatting with filmmakers and more during the 20th annual St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival. She hopes you’ll continue to check in and share your thoughts!
