Two men arrested for having weapons in separate incidents overnight

Police in the metro St. John’s area have arrested two men in connection with allegations of carrying weapons dangerous to the public.
Around 9 p.m. Friday Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers arrested a 55-year-old man near the Waterford Hospital, who they say, was in possession of a dangerous weapon.
The man has also been charged with breaching undertakings and probation orders.
He will appear in provincial court this morning for an arraignment.
Later Friday night, officers arrested a youth in Mount Pearl after a call came in about a man threatening people with a knife and fireplace poker.
The 17-year-old was arrested around 11:45 p.m. in the area of Ashlen Crescent in Mount Pearl and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and uttering threats.
The youth will also appear in provincial court this morning, but cannot be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
