Layton welcomes Cleary to the party
The Telegram
NDP Leader Jack Layton has welcomed Ryan Cleary into the party with open arms. Layton, who is in St. John’s today, said he laughed at some of the comments Cleary has written about the NDP in the past when Cleary was editor of The Independent newspaper.
Cleary has called the NDP “losers,” “aging granolas,” and “artsy fartsies” in some of his past columns.
Cleary is now running for the NDP in St. John’s South-Mount Pearl, and has no intention of apologizing for his past words.
Full story in Saturday’s Telegram.

Frank from St. John's, NL writes: Neither Layton or Cleary are relevant.
Harris has a good shot because the Liberal candidate was named in the MHA spending scandal.
As simple as that.

Jimmy from Deer Lake writes: I wonder: Is Cleary running for office because he feels he could contribute to positive social change or because he needs a job?

Mike D. from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland writes: I didn't read Cleary's newspaper because it was foolish what was being written.
Front page stories on the possibility Gene Simmons would tape an episode of his reality show here because his wife Shannon Tweed is a newf?
Why would I vote for someone who publishes crap like that?

Gerry Dunphy from Etobicoke, Ontario writes: To Jimmy From Deer Lake;
Why do you suppose that Jack Layton & His wife are running? Do you think that it is because they are so concerned about Newfoundland & Labrador? I do not think so, Neither of them would know a cod fish from a caplin, it s to get on the cash for life Jimmy Boy Like 90% of the rest of them are running.
