Williams, PCs still soaring Breaking News print this article
The Telegram

The latest poll by Corporate Research Associates (CRA) shows little change in the political satisfaction with the provincial government.
According to a survey conducted in February, and released today, 71 per cent of decided voters back the ruling PCs.
That’s down a percentage point from CRA’s November report.
The Liberals are up 3 points to 22 per cent and the NDP have fallen by two points.
However the survey, which only sampled 402 people in the province, is only accurate to within 4.9 per cent, meaning not much has changed.
When it comes to the approval rating for the provincial political leaders, Premier Danny Williams stands at 79 per cent, up a point from November, while Liberal Leader Yvonne Jones is up three points to 11 per cent and Lorraine Michael of the NDP is down a point to 5 per cent.
The number of undecided voters has dropped, however, from 22 to 15 per cent. That means this poll should be slightly more accurate as undecided people are not included in the overall results.
People polled were also asked how satisfied they were with the current government.
People who said they were completely or mostly satisfied made up 88 per cent of the responses, while only 9 per cent were mostly or completely dissatisfied.

George from NL writes: steve b'y, you sure are on the losing side. AND looking quite stupid by saying such childish things. Looks good on ya ! I'll tell ya what, since you like boil water orders so much, go piddle in your own water and boil it. That'll make ya happy - lol. Better yet, try living in Toronto and drink the water out of the tap. Grow up b'y and get a grip. It's now plain for everyone to see how wrong you are in all your anti-Danny and terrorist-like accusations. You'll never be taken seriously again (if you ever were... lmao!)

Danny has a phenomenal approval rating ! It's really quite incredible ! That is a HUGE and I mean a MASSIVE amount of public support ! Every politician, the world over, could only WISH for such a strong approval rating !

Enjoy...

Jon from NL writes: Only 402 people? I can't put much confidence in a poll that surveys approximately 0.08% of the population.

David from NL writes: If the old saying, that it's always darkest before the dawn, is true then I wonder...
is it always brightest before the sunset?

Paticularly when Danny finally rides into it?

C FA from PEI writes: Blue Kool Aid.....must taste some good. 2B from Ottawa, lost 1.6B of it in the economic melt down. Lost two paper mills in the not under my watch regime.

Call Steve a liar for taking NRR from equalization, but lied when he said that he would never use the power of legislature to force people back to work, yet he did. So he call Steve a liar, yet he is one too. Actually glad I left NL, u can continue to get drunk on the Blue Kool Aid

Don LESTER from C.B.S, Newfoundland & Labrador writes: Oh Gee !!!!! What a surprise !!!!! Will someone tell me what Premier Williams has done so wrong ???? He's the best thing to hit Newfoundland since sliced bread. We now have someone who is finally running government as a big business , of course, that is contrary to Roger Grimes belief as to how government should be run. Thank God Roger is not Premier today. Good work Danny, 79% of us are with you.

Shannon Reardon from St. John's, NL writes: It's only because there is NO VIABLE OPPOSITION (whihc sorely needs to be rebuilt politically). And because Danny Williams' style is to always pander to Newfoundlanders' sense of patriotism for his own popularity and gain. Nothing more.

Peter from NL writes: This is a reflection more of the lack of opposition than it is to the performance.

I believe the undecided voters may be well up there. This probably means they do not like the ruling Tories but see no other credible option.

Media should do a story on this. What do people think of the opposition parties, their organizations and their leaders?

george from bay roberts, Newfoundland writes: I am not surprised at all. When there is no viable alternative being offered by the other parties, what choice is there?

You cannot replace somebody with nobody? It has nothing to do with the government, it's just that there are no other options out there. This premier has shown that opposition or the questioning of his views will not be tolerated. So, I guess most people in the province are intimidated by this regime.
