Media evicted from Wiseman speech
The Telegram
Representatives of the media have been evicted from a forum on nursing human resources in St. John’s, despite being notified of the event by officials with Health and Community Services.
Members of the news media had gathered this morning at the Delta St. John’s Hotel to hear opening greetings from Health and Community Services Minister Ross Wiseman, but were asked to leave before Wiseman began speaking.
Officials told reporters the forum was closed to the media in order to allow for open discussion by the roughly 140 delegates in attendance. Wiseman will speak to the media after his presentation, an official said.
A media advisory was issued Monday, indicating that Wiseman would bring greetings at the forum. It’s common for the media to cover such speeches by politicians.
