Frank Blackwood from Richmond Hill, Ontario writes: It is so unfortunate that this generation has to recognize the War Brides who contributed so much to this country.
They are now well remembered and recognized like our Merchant Marines who were the unknowns until 10 years ago.

Christina Hunt from Hopeall, NL writes: It's good to finally see recognition for those women who came here to harsh times and arriving with very little. My mother was one of them ,unfortunately she died in 1954 eight years after arriving here and her like my father didn' live to see the his he was a Nl forestry member who died before they got any recognition. I believe there a few of them left today

Kathy from NL writes: My mother is NL-born but was also the wife (now the widow) of a veteran. Where's her recognition? Anyone coming to NL from the UK immediately after WW2 had it better than if they had stayed there. I don't see what this 'recognition is all about.

Pat Savage(Meadus) from Delta, BC writes: My Mom was also a war bride who had to endure hard times as the wife of a miner & fisherman while raising 9 children and making many sacrifices. Yes, it's about time they got recognition as well as the Merchant Navy Vets of which my Father was a member of. My Mother is still living but Dad passed on before the recognition was finally made.
