Lt.-Gov. John Crosbie, wearing sealskin tie, adds levity to cabinet shuffle
The Canadian Press
Lt.-Gov. John Crosbie of Newfoundland and Labrador left dignitaries in stitches today amid the pomp and circumstance of a provincial cabinet shuffle.
Crosbie held court before a small crowd of politicians and relatives, sporting a sealskin bow tie and exhibiting his trademark wit.
Crosbie recalled how Brian Mulroney used to have frequent cabinet shuffles when the former prime minister wanted to deflect criticism from his government.
The 78-year-old said he was confident that was not the case with Premier Danny Williams’s latest cabinet manoeuvring because he is rarely criticized.
Today’s cabinet shuffle is Williams’s third in less than a year.
Crosbie also told the former health minister — who has faced criticism for his handling of the province’s botched breast cancer testing scandal — that he should find his new job as business minister “a piece of cake.”

Wally from NB writes: Everybody's gonna miss this guy, when he's no longer around (hopefully that's a long way down the road though). What a character, too bad he never got to be Premier, or Prime Minister. Sure makes politics a lot more interesting.

Tommy Sealer from NL writes: Well I hope he wears that when the costly guest Prince Charlie comes to visit! In fact give him one to take home with him.
