Former head of development corporation charged with fraud

A former employee of the Gander Area Community Business Development Corporation has been charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, and two counts of uttering a forged document.
Bramwell Jack Budgell, 66, of Gander, the former executive director of the corporation, is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Gander Nov. 26.
The offences are alleged to have been committed between 2002 and 2008, and involve the issuance of fraudulent loans and expense claims. The charges allege Budgell misappropriated over $130,000 from the corporation during the stated period of time.
The investigation was conducted by the RCMP Commercial Crime Section with the assistance of the Gander Lewisporte District RCMP.
