Four people charged with a number of weapons-related and other offences made a brief appearance in provincial court in St. John’s this morning.
The cases of all four will be called in court again Nov. 25 for election and plea.
Last month, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were called to the Avalon Mall by security guards after they suspected a man was carrying a concealed weapon.
Police pulled over a vehicle near the mall’s entrance on Kenmount road and seized a loaded 9mm Beretta handgun, two stun guns, a quantity of cash and other items including body armour.
Joshua Richard Whalen, 21, and Beverley Ann Swyers, 20, are still in custody and were brought into court handcuffed and shackled.
Their co-accused, Amanda Murphy, 23, and Edward S. Taylor, 25, who were released from custody on sureties and conditions were also in court this morning.
While the two in custody have lawyers, the two others do not yet have counsel.
However, the defence lawyers present in court told the judge that they had just received disclosure from the Crown this morning.
