Canadians grow more concerned about H1N1, more plan to get shot: poll
The Canadian Press—Toronto
A majority of Canadians are either planning to get vaccinated against H1N1 or have already done so, while the number of people saying no to the swine-flu shot has dropped off significantly, a new poll suggests.
Just under half, or 49 per cent, of respondents to the latest Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll reported being at least somewhat concerned about the H1N1 virus.
Twenty per cent of those surveyed said they were very concerned about swine flu, while 35 per cent reported being somewhat concerned.
A similar poll conducted last month found that just 36 per cent of respondents were concerned about the pandemic threat.
The latest survey found 49 per cent of respondents said they were planning to get vaccinated against H1N1, compared with about a third of respondents to an earlier poll had said they planned to get the shot.
The poll surveyed 1,000 Canadians by phone between Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 and carries a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
