Central Health announced today the cancellation of some elective surgeries at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander due to staffing shortages.
According to a news release, all Echocardiogram services at the Gander hospital and the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor (inpatient and outpatient) have been temporarily suspended until further notice. Any clients affected by this change have been notified and will be rescheduled at the earliest possible date.
The authority says any emergent echocardiograms will be referred to another health authority.
Central Health did not provide a reason for the staffing shortage in the release.
