A 28-year-old St. John’s man faces charges of aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm following an incident at a west-end restaurant Sunday evening.
Ren Feng Yang made a brief appearance in provincial court in St. John’s this afternoon. He was taken back to jail and will be back Tuesday afternoon for a bail hearing.
A translator in Mandarin was called on during proceedings.
The charges stem from an incident that happened Sunday night between two employees at City Light Buffet on Topsail Road in St. John’s.
According to reports, Yang allegedly used a knife to injure the other man on back of his head. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
The assault allegedly took place in the restaurant’s kitchen.
Yang reportedly has only been in St. John’s a short period of time.
