RCMP investigating fire in Baie Verte

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is investigating a fire that broke out in Baie Verte around 11 p.m. Saturday.
The blaze consumed and completely flattened the Baie Verte Fire Department “smoke-house,” a wooden structure used for training volunteer fire personnel in safe entry and exit methods while in a controlled smoke-filled environment.
The building was located at the fire department’s training facility located about one kilometre north of Baie Verte.
Upon arrival, fire and police officials found the building completely engulfed in fire and in the process of collapsing.
The RCMP said this is a significant loss to the fire department which is operated and staffed solely by volunteers.
