Telegram website to post results of Terra Nova byelection
The Telegram
People living in the provincial district of Terra Nova will head to the polls Thursday to vote in a replacement to the House of Assembly for former health minister Paul Oram, who abruptly quit politics last month.
The Telegram's website will post the results as soon as they become available.
Oram’s former executive assistant, Sandy Collins, is the Tory candidate in the byelection. John Baird is the Liberal candidate and Robin Brentnall is running for the NDP.
Collins lives in Glovertown and says he can offer constituents “a smooth transition” since he spent the past five years working for Oram’s office.
Baird hopes the momentum from a Liberal win in a byelection on the Northern Peninsula last month will continue to his district. (Liberal Marshall Dean won the seat for The Straits-White Bay North last month).
Brentnall, who retired earlier this year after 23 years in the Canadian military and returned to his hometown of Gambo, said people know he will fight hard for them as he has never backed down from any issue.
When the polls close, The Telegram will begin posting results to its website as soon as they become available. Updates will be posted to The Telegram website throughout the evening until a winner is declared and the final results are in. Also, full coverage of the election, including reaction, will appear in Friday’s print edition of The Telegram.
