Jon Pardy is one of two people from this province who will be on Season 2 of “Big Brother Canada.”

Pardy has joined 14 other hopeful contestants in the Big Brother House to compete in challenges. During their time on the show they are isolated from the outside world and will be eliminated one by one, with the final contestant winning $100,000.

The show premiered Wednesday on the Slice channel, and airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Since the cast announcement last week, Pardy has been steadily gaining a following and has huge support from his hometown of Clarenville.

His official Facebook page, GoofyNewfieBBCA, already has 1,723 followers and his Twitter page, GoofyNewfieBBCA has 800 followers.

In his Big Brother Canada 2 introductory video, Pardy says his strategy is to play a social game.

“I consider myself a funny and kind of goofy guy, so hopefully I can play up my humour. But I’m going to play the game and do whatever it takes to win,” says Pardy.

Pardy says in his video he is looking forward to the experience.

“I think it’s such a cool concept where people are watching you 24-7. I’m just excited to meet these people and enjoy it.”

Pardy is the only current Newfoundland resident to be on the show. Kenny Brain, who grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor and lives in Montreal, will be a contestant.

Andrew Monaghan of Corner Brook made it to the Final 5 last season.
