Grammy-nominated orator and entertainer Billy Bragg is bringing his mix of pop and politics to Atlantic Canada for four shows, including one in St. John’s in September.
From his first album, “Life’s a Riot with Spy vs Spy” to his latest release, 2013’s successful “Tooth and Nail,” Bragg has earned a reputation as a political-songwriter who continues to explore the genres of folk and alternative country.
From protesting craven politicians and inhumane corporations to having a hit pop song and appearing on stage at Wembley Stadium, Bragg has had a career that has allowed for him to connect with his fans and champion causes that he believes in.
Bragg has also launched his own series of monthly radio shows on Spotify, in his words, “talking playlists,” where he discusses the music and artists that mean a lot to him.
The dates and venues for the four shows are as follows:
• Sept. 23 – Fredericton, N.B. – The Fredericton Playhouse;
• Sept. 24 – Charlottetown, P.E.I. – P.E.I. Brewing Company;
• Sept. 25 – Halifax, N.S. – Rebecca Cohn Auditorium;
• Sept. 27 – St. John’s – Holy Heart Theatre.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. in Charlottetown, P.E.I. and 12 noon in Fredericton, N.B., Halifax, N.S. and St. John’s.
The St. John’s tickets are $41.50 in advance and $46.50 on the day of the show, including tax and service charge. Tickets will be available at the Holy Heart Theatre box office, by phone at (709) 579-4424 and online at www.sonicconcerts.com. Additional fees may apply.
