Food festival celebrating local cuisine returns to White Hills

Event organizer and chef Chris Sheppard hopes people will go to White Hills for culinary delights and some skiing at this years Eat The Hill beginning on the last day of January.

Clarenville's winter food festival will return for its fourth year at the White Hills Ski Resort on Jan. 27 and 28.

Eat the Hill 2017 will feature a Friday night Gastro Pub and Beer tasting on Friday, Jan. 27, with some of Newfoundland's best chefs on site creating dishes made with local Newfoundland ingredients.

Chefs will be located at several stations in the bar to allow guests to interact with the chefs.

The Port Rexton Brewing company will partner with Quidi Vidi Brewery for the Friday night gastro pub beer tasting.

On Saturday, the festival will continue its tradition of having seven chefs, seven courses, with local chefs working together to create a seven-course meal using local ingredients.

The chefs featured will include, chef Nick Jewczyk of the Fifth Ticket, chef Kyle Puddester of Granite Bar, chef Peter Burt of Raymonds, chef Tim Charles of Fogo Island Inn, chef Shaun Hussey of Chinched Bistro, chef Damian Marner and chef clint brewer.

The festival will once again be organized by chef Chris Sheppard and Roger Dewling, Culinary Arts Instructors at the Bonavista campus of the College of the North Atlantic.

The entertainment is still to be announced.

Ticket prices for the Friday events are $49 per person for the Gastro Pub and Beer Tasting on Friday, Jan. 27. The price is $74 for a full day lift pass included.

For the Saturday Eat the Hill event, prices are $109 per person or $134 with a full day lift pass.
