Hair loss can be traumatic, regardless of the reason or your age. While some people simply see hair loss as part of the normal aging process, not everyone is so ready to accept this fate. In many cases, patients don’t have enough donor hair to provide transplants for all of the areas on their scalp that need more hair. In these situations, there may be adequate donor hair to rebuild the frontal hair line and the first third of the scalp with permanent hair, according to Fowler. “A non-medical graft may be used to fill the crown area, perfectly. The result is absolutely outstanding!”
Cosmeceuticals
A great interim solution for people while they consider their hair replacement options is Volluma, a cosmeceutical hair-thickening spray that provides an instant styling solution for thinning hair and hair loss in both women and men. There are other cosmeceutical solutions as well.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)
SMP is a tattoo technique in which tattoo pigments are placed on the scalp to emulate the appearance of a cleanly shaved head of hair. If they are administered correctly, you can’t tell the difference between a shaved head and a tattooed head, Fowler says. He adds that SMP is also a fabulous solution for providing the appearance of increased density among transplanted hair, and covering donor scarring from older hair transplant procedures.
