Auditor General Terry Paddon won’t be enjoying retirement when he finishes up as the province’s auditor general on Oct. 31, because he’ll start a new job the next day.
As reported by The Scoop, the municipality of Conception Bay South’s official town newsletter, Paddon will begin a three-month contract to serve as the chief administrative officer (CAO) for the town starting on Nov. 1.
“Mr. Paddon has a strong background and credentials in governance and finance and we look forward to working with him in the coming months,” The Scoop reported in a brief bulletin.
Before being appointed auditor general in 2012, Paddon was the deputy minister of finance in the provincial government, and he has been a career bureaucrat.
This is the second big departure recently from Confederation Building for a CAO position at a municipality. Last month, Mount Pearl North MHA Steve Kent announced he was leaving provincial politics to take a permanent job as Mount Pearl’s CAO.
