St. John’s, NL – Applications are being accepted for the 2018-19 Miss Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship Program.

From Nov. 16-18, women ages 13-18 from around the province will gather in the capital city for the annual event, which awards thousands of dollars in educational scholarships.

Miss Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes young women for achievement in academics, public speaking, interview skills, performing arts-related talents, community service and volunteer work.

Since the program’s inception in 2006, more than $100,000 in scholarships have been awarded. An equal amount has been raised for local charitable organizations by program participants.

“We all have the ability to become leaders and make a substantial difference in our communities, regions, province and world,” said Lori Caines, a member of the organization’s Board of Directors.

“Miss Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador promotes positive character development, community awareness, and encourages the personal and professional growth that produces positive role models.”

Participants who are selected to compete will experience a fun-filled weekend of competition, culminating with the awards gala on Sunday, Nov. 18.
