Witless Bay Line, N.L. —No serious injuries occurred when a woman and two men riding an Argo ATV near Witless Bay Line Saturday afternoon went through the ice while moose hunting.
Search and rescue crews responded to the late-afternoon incident along with the RCMP and paramedics. It took some time to reach the pond, which was about 13-14 miles in on the Witless Bay line, according to news reports.
When rescuers arrived the three had managed to extricate themselves from the situation and were in good shape. Only one of the three had been completely wet, reports said.
Around the province authorities have been warning people to stay off the ice due to unsafe conditions. Another incident in St. Anthony prompted a warning from the RCMP in that area Saturday.
