Bay Roberts woman killed in single-vehicle accident on Veterans Memorial Highway

The RCMP have arrested two men in Carbonear after they found cash, drugs and a firearm.

BAY ROBERTS, N.L. — A 39-year-old woman from Bay Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle accident on Veterans Memorial Highway Tuesday morning, June 19.

According to Bay Roberts RCMP, heavy rain and water buildup was a probable factor in the accident, which resulted in the driver being ejected from the vehicle. A female passenger who was alert and conscious following the accident was transported to Carbonear General Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened after 8 a.m. Traffic was diverted for a few hours between North River and Makinsons while emergency responders tended to the accident scene.

An accident is affecting traffic on Veterans Memorial Highway this morning, June 19.

The RCMP is advising the public traffic will be diverted through Makinsons and North River until further notice due to a motor vehicle collision on the highway.
