A Catalina man charged with two counts of attempted murder and multiple counts of assault has elected trial by judge and jury in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tyler Hicks, 26, is scheduled for a preliminary inquiry on Dec. 4, where it will be determined if there is enough evidence to proceed to a trial.

Hicks, who was released from police custody May 17, faces a total of 15 charges related to an alleged incident in Bonavista on Monday, April 16.

He is accused of striking another vehicle with his own. He is also alleged to have assaulted two of the occupants of the other vehicle with a bat.
