A Corner Brook man who has already pleaded guilty to luring and sexually assaulting a child is now facing charges under the Liquor Control Act and the Tobacco Control Act.
Johnathan Francis Brake, 36, appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook on Wednesday morning via video conference from Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in St. John’s.
He plead guilty in July to sexual assault, unlawfully luring a child under the age of 16 by means of a computer system for the purpose of facilitating an offence involving that young person, unlawfully making sexually explicit material available to a child under the age of 16 and using telecommunications as a means to arrange the commission of a sexual offence against a child under the age of 16.

Three other charges — single counts of internet luring, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching — were conditionally withdrawn.
The offences are alleged to involve the same victim and to have occurred in western Newfoundland between January and May.
Brake had been set to go to sentencing on the charges earlier this month, but that was postponed due to the need for legal aid to assign new counsel to his file.
During Wednesday’s appearance Sandi MacKinnon, who appeared on his behalf as duty counsel, told the court that Shelley Senior would now be representing him.
MacKinnon was also made aware of the new charges that are alleged to have occurred between March 1 and May 7. They include a single count of providing liquor to a minor and five counts of providing tobacco to a young person.
Those charges will be called for pleas on Oct. 26 at the same time as Brake’s sentencing hearing on the other charges.
