Corner Brook police charged teenage boy and girl with confining, assaulting girl

Two Corner Brook youths have been charged with multiple offences in relation to an alleged assault on another young person.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, police received a report Friday that a 12-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted in the downtown area of the city last Wednesday.

The girl, who knew both people charged, sustained injuries police said were not life-threatening.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Saturday and charged with single counts of forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats and breach of a court order.

On Sunday, a 14-year-old girl was arrested Sunday. She was charged with one count of forcible confinement, two counts of assault with a weapon, and three counts of assault.

Both of the charged youthes appeared in provincial court Monday and were released after being given return court dates.
