It’s been almost a week since she was sent on her way from “The Bachelor Canada,” but Deer Lake’s Meghan House isn’t letting the rejection get her down.
“If it wasn’t there, it wasn’t there,” she said on Monday. While she was feeling something for bachelor Chris Leroux, the feelings weren’t mutual.
So during last Wednesday’s rose ceremony while on location in the Dominican Republic for the W Network show, House was left empty handed.
At the time she was really upset because she had a feeling during the cocktail party before the ceremony that it would.
“I kind of figured like oh yeah, God I’m going home.”
Her departure came after a bit of controversy with another contestant, Brittany, who left the show on her own before the rose ceremony.
“Well, basically, I stood up for myself is what I did,” said House of the encounter between the two.
“Because I think I wasn’t confident at all going into this whole show fiasco. I feel like I built up my confidence and when I felt like I was being bullied and manipulated I brought it to her attention and I did get into it, and I picked up for myself.”
That lack of confidence is a bit surprising coming from a young woman who has put herself out there many times before in pageants.
She said this experience was different.
“It’s probably because there was a man involved.”
She figured there would be some controversy and it was her goal to stay out of it.
“I’m not into it. I just really wanted to get to know him.”
And she thinks her not getting a rose was just because he wasn’t feeling a connection to her.
Overall, the experience was a good one as she met a lot of people she now considers friends, it’s given her some exposure and has helped build up her confidence.
While she has no intentions of seeking a return to the show, she encourages others to try it out.
“I feel like if you’re brave enough, go do it.”
She would be open to being on “The Bachelorette Canada” where she could be the one to “pick and choose.”
For now she plans to soon return to Deer Lake and take it one day at a time as she gets back to reality.
She’ll still be watching the show to see who it is that Leroux choses in the end, but she’s not rooting for anyone in particular.
