St. John’s, N.L. — A man driving in the centre of John’s took off Wednesday afternoon after the RNC attempted to conduct a traffic safety stop.

The vehicle he was driving was located a short time later but the driver had fled the area.

Police later caught up to a 22-year-old man who was charged with flight from police and dangerous driving.

He was issued a summary offence ticket for operating an unregistered vehicle and one for operating a vehicle without valid insurance.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver was held for court.
