BAIE VERTE, N.L. – There are no changes planned to the emergency department hours at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre, according to Central Health.

The health authority released a statement today, Aug. 15, saying it felt compelled to publicly address rumours the hours were going to be adjusted. The emergency department at the facility currently provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The rumours appear to be related to the opening of the new Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale.

The Central Health statement noted the new facility will offer the same number of beds and similar programs and services that are presently offered at the current Green Bay Health Centre.

“The new Green Bay Health Centre’s design will better support health care team collaboration and patient/client flow,” the statement indicated.

“The new facility will not absorb services and programs currently offered in other community health facilities.”
