A house fire on Mount Scio Road had firefighters from the St. John’s Regional fire department busy over the supper hour Sunday evening. The fire broke out in a vacant home with no electrical service and was confined to the basement area but the rest of the home suffered smoke and water damage. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the incident and briefly had a K-9 team on scene searching the area around the fire scene. There were no injuries but traffic on the road was blocked for several hours as emergency personnel dealt with the incident.
