FORTUNE, NL – A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking following a police search of a home in Fortune on Wednesday.

Steven Thornhill of Fortune has also been charged with unsafe storage of firearms and ammunition.

The RCMP’s Burin and St. John’s federal serious and organized crime units, local detachment members and the emergency response team were all involved in the bust.

Police found 26 grams of marijuana, 60 grams of cocaine, 245 grams of hash, 0.6 grams of crack cocaine and 40 to 50 oxycontin pills during the search.

Seven long guns and ammunition, cell phones and computer equipment were also seized.

Upon further investigation following Thornhill’s arrest, another 1.83 pounds of marijuana and 232 grams of shatter were seized as well.

Thornhill appeared at provincial court in Grand Bank Thursday morning and was remanded until his next court appearance on Nov. 22.
